Success is subjective. No one can define it for you—and that’s the beauty of it. But with this formula for success, you can plug in your own goals and figure out the best way to get there.

Have you checked in with yourself lately about your goals in training and climbing? What about in your life beyond climbing? What’s your destination? How will you get there?
If you’re not sure about the answers to these questions, it might be time to take a deep dive into your motivation. Like trying to navigate a new city without GPS, you’re bound to get turned around if you don’t know where you’re going.
Success in climbing is about more than what you do on the wall or in the gym. It’s about human performance. The best version of yourself has the best chance of reaching your potential…in anything.
So what exactly does it take to achieve extreme success?
Hint: it’s not simply a matter of “working harder”. There’s something more holding most of us back from achieving the lofty goals we have for ourselves. It takes consistent effort to break away from these limiting beliefs and make moves toward our dreams.
In this video, coach Eric Hörst describes his formula for success and making steady daily progress towards achievement. The best part is, you can apply this conceptual model to accelerate progress in anything. These lessons apply just as well off the wall as on it. You don’t even have to be a climber to appreciate this one—it’s a powerful message for climbers and non-climbers alike!
